Did I hear you right that he had more tour wins from 1979-1986 than any other player?? That’s an awesome stat and should be worthy of HoF consideration right there. I always think a sustained peak says a lot more than total career numbers at the end of the day.

Tom Kite comes to mind as the other possible correct answer to this bit of trivia, but I suppose Peete could be the correct answer given the narrowly defined time period.

That stat comes directly from Hobson’s biography of Peete. I will admit I did not comb through the PGA Tour record books to fact check it, but I believe it is true.
12 wins is a lot. Jordan Speith has 13 career wins. He won two majors at 21. Calvin was still two years from even learning golf at that age. Imagine how many wins Calvin might have had if he’d caught the golf bug at 13 instead of 23.
Now imagine how many other Calvin Peetes never emerged because they were never exposed to the game at all.
