Trap Draw: Argentina

Really enjoyed the Trap Draw on Argentina and the chat on Boca and River Plate

I thought I would share link to a podcast on the Copa Libertadores final in 2018 which got postponed and moved to Madrid eventually

Good to see @MerchCzar is living up to his strapped roots with his support for Boca who are the working class club

River are more C-Suite with their nickname the millionaires

Neil pronouncing River Plate with “Plate” having two syllables keeps triggering me

As a guy who left his appendix in a public hospital in Bariloche, I was going to listen to this until I read that.

Me too. I think he was later in the podcast referring to Racing but cannot be sure

That was my assumption as well. I would think Boca, River, Racing, Indipendiente, and San Lorenzo would be the “Big Five” but they’re more of a duopoly like Spain than anything else.

Glad they touched on the post-WWII history. Felt like there was a bit of an elephant in the room when Neil was raving about the Italian food early in the pod.

The Peugeot pronunciation got me. I was sitting at a stoplight with top and windows down cackling looking like a crazy person.

(Said by someone that has trouble with French pronunciation that can definitely relate.)

Lol I half expected him to talk about the schnitzel he had at a German place next

If this episode made anyone crave a deep dive into South American history, I can’t recommend the Revolutions podcast enough. Definitely a focus on northern S America, but Argentina and Chile make appearances as well

Really enjoyed the episode. Curious why @MerchCzar didn’t go to Mendoza. Out of all the wine regions my wife and I have gone to (Napa, Tuscany, Germany) it has to be our favorite bang for your buck. Having the Andes as the back drop for wine drinking is hard to beat.

So I take a bag of 100s, argure about everything, and I can have a real affordable vacation. Is that the gist?

Yes basically.

The Racing pronunciation was rough. So was Cordoba. Emphasis on first o. I would also vouch for Mendoza. Valle de Uco south of Mendoza has some amazing bodegas. I spent a few years down in Argentina and i will say that the locals don’t eat asado 5 times a week. The italian influence really takes over with respect to a lot of their daily meals. I lot of pasta, polenta, etc. For a lot of families asado is a family sunday lunch meal.

When they were talking about how Bariloche reminded him of the alps I was thinking yeah that’s not a coincidence
